Dr. Sanah Merchant Soomar is a Consultant in the Department of Paediatric Cardiac Sciences at Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre. She is an American Board Certified Paediatric Cardiologist.

She has considerable experience performing transthoracic, Fetal and transesophageal echocardiograms. She has previously worked as a Senior Paediatric Cardiology Consultant at the National University Hospital of Singapore where she managed the Fetal cardiac program and has substantial expertise in diagnosing and counseling for complex cardiac defects antenatally.

She is also experienced in performing diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterizations including balloon valvuloplasty, coarctation angioplasties, ASD and PDA devices, coil embolization, etc.

She is trained in the management of critical post-operative patients including bedside cardiac pacing, pericardiocentesis, cardioversion, etc.

Dr. Merchant-Soomar completed 3 years of Paediatric residency training in New York followed by another 3 years of Fellowship in Paediatric Cardiology at Cohen Children’s Medical Centre in New York City, USA. She then worked as a consultant Paediatric cardiologist at the same center for a few years.

She has several publications in national and international journals. She has also been an invited speaker at multiple international conferences and workshops.
