  • Introduction:

    Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is an inflammatory autoimmune condition that affects the brain & spinal cord.

  • Symptoms:
    • Sudden visual impairment
    • Arm or leg weakness or numbness, loss of balance
    • Difficulty in passing urine
    • Recent memory and cognitive issues
    • Fatigue and tired feeling
    • It strikes young people, women more than men
    • If not treated, it causes permanent deterioration of the nerves, and the patient may eventually be dependent on his care givers in the long term
    • The cause of MS in not known, but it is believed to be due to a combination of genetic, immunological & environmental factors
  • At RFH MS clinic:
      • At RFH we provide Holistic and Comprehensive care to patients with Multiple Sclerosis
      • Diagnosis: A detailed clinical assessment: history & examination including the Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS) is done by the neurologists.
      • Investigations: MRI brain and spine (MS protocol) with 3 Tesla Machine. The data is stored for future comparison. This helps in monitoring the progression of disease and success of therapy (NEDA)
      • Specialised Serological and immunological tests in blood as well in CSF.

    2. Latest Disease Modifying Therapies and their monitoring

    3. Symptomatic treatment

    4. Neuro-rehabilitation with our experienced Rehab Specialist
