Paediatric and Adolescent Endocrinology and Diabetes

At Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre, we are committed to providing holistic care of children as part of the Women’s and Children’s services being developed as a center of excellence. Being fully cognizant of the role of super-specialties in the optimal care of children, we provide a Paediatric Endocrinology service that is as yet under-represented in India. The hormonal system is a very important yet hitherto under-recognized part of children’s overall well-being. Just like many other parts of the body, this system too, could malfunction. These malfunctions at an early age need to be dealt with effectively, thereby preventing or minimizing long-lasting adverse effects that the child would be subject to even as an adult. We also acknowledge that children are not just ‘smaller adults’ (a common misconception ) but that they are a unique subset in their own way, which is why having a Pediatrician trained in exclusively Paediatric Endocrinology helps immensely.

The service covers some basic/ common yet important aspects like growth, thyroid, juvenile diabetes, obesity and puberty problems on the one hand, and on the other hand, deals with highly complex cases like Intersex conditions, Brittle Bone disease, Pituitary problems, Insulin Pumps in a manner that is tailored to each individual and built in keeping with patient and family-centered care.

At Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre the availability of superior world-class laboratory and radiology facilities, and of many other related super-specialists under one roof makes it an almost one-stop shop to deliver state-of –the art care for children with Paediatric Endocrinology conditions.
