To find out, we got in touch with Dr Sonali Kohli, Consultant, Dermatology, Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital, who told us that “deodorants are generally considered safe for most people to use. The active ingredients in deodorants and antiperspirants, such as aluminium compounds, work to prevent or reduce sweating and eliminate odour-causing bacteria. However, there have been some concerns raised about the potential health effects of using deodorants, particularly antiperspirants”.
