MUMBAI: A 61-year-old braindead man has become city’s first organ donor this year. The man was admitted to Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre, Girgaum, on December 30 after he suffered brain haemorrhage.
“One of the kidneys was donated to a 44-year-old man in the hospital on Tuesday,” said a hospital spokesperson. The other kidney was given to a recipient at Global Hospital in Parel.
On Monday, a housewife, 48, from Palghar was pronounced brain-dead at Wockhardt Hospital, Mira Road, after suffering brain haemorrhage. Her family donated her liver, cornea and kidneys.
