Paediatric Cardiac Sciences

Dr Jeril George Kurien is the Chief Paediatric Cardiac Anaesthetist and intensivist in the Department of Paediatric Cardiac Sciences at Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre since 2016.

After completing his MBBS from Mumbai University, Dr. Kurien pursued his DA in Anesthesiology from Seth G.S Medical College & K.E.M Hospital, Mumbai and thereafter obtained his DNB degree. He also earned a Post-Doctorate Certificate Course in Cardiac Anesthesiology and Critical Care from Amritha Institute of Medical Sciences, Amritha University, Cochin.

Before his association with our hospital, Dr Kurien was working at reputed hospitals in Mumbai and Chennai as a Paediatric and neonatal Cardiac Anaesthesiologist and intensivist. He has also been a lecturer in Anaesthesiology for one year in Amritha Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Centre, Cochin. He was the Paediatric Cardiac Anaesthesiologist and intensivist of the team led by the well-known Swiss Paediatric cardiac surgeon Dr. Kalangos when he started the Paediatric Cardiac surgery program at Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Lagos, Nigeria in July 2014. They operated on Nigerian children with congenital heart diseases and Dr. Kurien singlehandedly managed all these cases postoperatively in the ICU.

He has presented several papers and lectures at multiple forums and has actively been involved in research work in his area of activity.

He is a Life member of the Indian Medical Association, Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists, Indian Association of Cardiovascular & Thoracic Anaesthesiologists & Paediatric Cardiac Society of India.

He has also been instrumental in starting the Paediatric Cardiac Critical Care Course and the MUHS affiliated – Fellowship in Paediatric Cardiovascular Anaesthesia in Sir H.N.Reliance Foundation Hospital and has also been actively conducting PALS training for all the doctors and staff in our hospital.
