Dr Rakesh R. Bhansali is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with the Orthopaedics department at Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre.

After completing his MBBS, D Orth and MS (Orth), Dr Bhansali pursued DNB (Orth) followed by MCh (Orth) from Liverpool, UK. He has been practising General Orthopaedics since 1982 after he completed his Masters. He had assisted his father, the late Dr. Rasik M. Bhansali, for a few years before and a decade thereafter.

Dr Bhansali worked as a Clinical Assistant in London and completed a 1 year Rotating Registrarship in Liverpool (England, UK) in 1986 leading to the coveted MCh (Orth). He returned from England in 1987 after training in different specialities including knee surgery, foot surgery, spine surgery, paediatric orthopaedics and joint replacement (hip and knee). There he had the honour of working with world renowned surgeons like Prof. CJE Monk (of hip replacement fame), Prof. Leslie Klenerman (Foot Surgery book author), Mr. Campbell (knee replacement) and Mr. John Dorgan (paediatric spinal surgeon) amongst others. He has kept himself updated with newer techniques by attending numerous conferences and workshops around the country and visited reputed centres abroad.

In the past, he has worked as faculty in Orthopaedics at Sir H. N. Hospital since 1989; also at Saifee Hospital, Masina Hospital and MRK Lion’s Hospital (Navsari) as a visiting Orthopaedic Surgeon.

Presently, besides his association with us, he is a Consultant at Conwest Jain Clinic Hospital. He is also Head of Cerebral Palsy Unit of the Centre for Child Development (previously Children’s Orthopaedic Hospital and soon to become the Children’s Hospital under the auspices of Narayana Hridalaya).
