Dr. Rekha G. Daver is Head of Medical Education & Academics and Consultant in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre.
She was first class first in all University under-graduate and post-graduate exams with gold medal in Obstetrics & Gynaecology. After getting MD (OBGY) in 1978 she received further training in LASER & Micro-surgery at Baylor College of Medicine & Reproductive Research Training in University of Texas, Houston, USA. Increasing evidence of HIV motivated her to take further HIV/AIDS training at University of South Florida, Tampa, USA.
In spite of getting green card for permanent residence in USA, she chose to come back and serve underprivileged patients and train under-graduate and post-graduate students in various government medical colleges. She retired as Dean, G.M.C., Akola and prior to that she was Professor & Head at Grant Medical College & Sir JJ group of Hospitals, Mumbai for 20 years.
She has been full-time under-graduate teacher for 39 years and Post-graduate teacher for 34 years and examiner for MBBS, MD/MS, DNB (OBGY), CPS (DGO, DFP & FCPS).
Dr. Rekha Daver was Principal Investigator for several research studies conducted by ICMR, NACO & WHO. Notable amongst them is Prevention of Mother To Child transmission Of HIV (PMTCT) and UNAIDS has appreciated her work on their website (Tireless Indian doctor dedicated to Women’s Health). She has contributed to research in newer methods in family planning like female condom, injectable contraceptives and contraceptive implants and Medical Abortion with Misoprostol.
Dr. Daver has been nominated by Government of India and Government of Maharashtra for various Task Forces and Research groups. She has been Gynaecologist to Governor of Maharashtra.
Dr Rekha Daver has published several papers and is invited as faculty in National and International conferences. Her passion is Women’s Health promotion and Health education. She has given numerous TV and Radio health programs and articles in magazines and newspapers. She has won many prestigious national and international awards for her dedication to women’s health, research and medical education notable amongst them are Best professor Award, Lifetime Achievement Award, Rajiv Gandhi Yuva Prerna Puraskar and Labhsetwar Foundation USA Award for family welfare.
On 30th November, 2017, she was awarded prestigious “Certificate of Honour” by Government of Maharashtra for her dedicated services for 40 years towards uplifting women’s health, Family Welfare & Medical Education.
