Obstetrics Gynaecology

Dr. Ameya Purandare is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre.

Dr. Ameya Purandare completed his MBBS with distinctions in Biochemistry, Forensic Medicine & Toxicology, and Obstetrics & Gynaecology from University of Bombay. He secured 1st rank and was awarded the gold medal for DGO, MD (Obs. & Gyn.) (Mumbai University), FCPS and DFP. He has been the recipient of many awards including the Best Resident Doctor Award by Seth G. S. Medical College and K.E.M. Hospital, The Prince of Wales Gold Medal, Shri Hansraj Pragji Thackersy & Prince of Wales Fellowship, and Dr. B.N. Purandare Memorial Prize.

Dr. Purandare has a two decades of clinical experience in the field of Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Family Planning. He was awarded the Dr. R.D. Pandit Memorial Prize by the FOGSI for the thesis on “Cervical cerclage: Its role in Cervical Incompetence. He trained in Gasless Laparoscopy and Laparoscopic Adhesiolysis under the Fellowship in Gynaecological Endoscopy at International School of Gasless Endoscopy /Endogyn Foundation, Germany in 2005. He has trained Undergraduate & Post graduate Medical Students in subject of Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Family Planning for the last 15 years. Dr. Purandare was honoured with the awarded Dr. Ganatra Charitable Medical Centre Award-2017 by MOGS for contribution towards improvement of Women’s Health.

Dr. Purandare is a life member of Indian College of Obstetrics & Gynaecology (MICOG) / FOGSI since 1998 and the Indian Association of Gynaecological Endoscopy (IAGE). He has received many travel fellowships such Fellowship of Indian College of Obstetrics & Gynaecology (FICOG), 2011, MOGS Dr. C. G. Saraiya Travelling Fellowship in 2002-2003 and J & J Ethicon Travelling Fellowship, 2003. He has held several prestigious positions such as the Honorary Secretary of Association of Maharashtra Obst. & Gyn. Societies (AMOGS) 2014-2016 and Chairperson, Food Drugs Medical and Surgical Equipment Committee, FOGSI 2015-2017.

Dr. Purandare has co-authored 31 research papers and book chapters and 6 conference presentation to his credit. He has been an invited speaker and chairperson at many international conferences on various topics of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. He has also been a part of several clinical studies.
