Dr Vinod Shah is a Consultant at the Cardiology department of Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre.
After MBBS and DM (Card.), Dr Shah completed MD (Med.) and FISE. He did his Research Fellowship in Cardiology at University of Alabama, Birmingham, USA. He also completed Clinical Fellowship in Interventional Cardiology at Charles Nicole Hospital, University of Rouen, France. He has been trained for Colour Doppler and Carotid Doppler in USA.
Dr Shah has a rich experience of more than 30 years in the field of Cardiology. He has performed individually and assisted more than 6000 Angioplasties and is currently doing more than 400 PTCA (Percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty) per year individually. He has conducted Aortic, Mitral and Pulmonary Valvuloplasties in children and adults in more than 100 cases. He has also done Coronary Angiography on emergency basis in acute myocardial infarction in 25 patients while studying for thrombolytic therapy and was awarded for the same.
Dr Shah has the credit for performing Primary Angioplasties and Rescue Angioplasties in more than 300 patients, implanting Permanent Pacemakers in more than 400 patients, and performing more than 15000 Cardiac Catheterization and Coronary Angiographies.
Dr Shah has been extensively trained in stenting and has used all variety of stents. He has used new devices like Rotablators, Atherectomy devices, Doppler Wires, IVUS and Angioscopies in France at the University of Rouen.
Actively involved in pioneering research for use of stem cells in cardiology in the country, Dr Shah has more than 60 international and national publications to his credit. He is also experienced in Electrophysiologic studies and has several research papers published on the same.
During his stint with the L. T. M. G. Hospital, he managed all acute cardiac emergencies in the 10 bedded I.C.C.U. there. He also managed all kinds of cardiac cases in 20-bedded cardiology ward at the same place. He has managed critical new-born and infants with congenital heart disease.
Dr Shah has delivered lectures at several conferences and is the recipient of many awards including: Golden Citizen of India Award for outstanding achievement at International Institute of Education & Management, New Delhi (2014); Award of Excellence for Outstanding Contribution in the field of Cardiology in the World on behalf of Organizing and Scientific Committee of World Congress on Clinical, Preventive, Geriatric Cardiology & Imaging (WCCPGCI) (2010); and Prof. D. P. Basu Award in Cardiology (1987).
