Dr. Nimit Shah is a Consultant in the department of Cardiology at Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre.

Dr Nimit Shah is a graduate of A.C.P.M. Medical College (Jawahar Medical Foundation, India) and completed his MBBS in 1997. He was awarded an MD from University of Dundee, UK in October 2008 and completed his certification in cardiology (CCT) from Oxford, UK in 2013 and MRCP, UK in 2003. Having spent 13 years in UK, he came back to India in 2014.

Dr. Shah is a certificated Advanced Life Support (ALS) Instructor since September 2007 and has been accredited by British Society of Echocardiography (BSE) to perform adult echocardiogram. With a clinical experience of more than two decades , he has worked at many international hospitals such as Royal Bournemouth Hospital, UK; John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, UK; Wexham Park Hospital, Slough, UK; New Cross Hospital, Wolverhampton, UK; Grantham and District Hospital, Grantham, UK; Leicester Royal Infirmary, Leicester, UK; University of Dundee/ Ninewells Hospitals, Dundee, UK to name a few.

He has vast experience in both general and interventional cardiology. He is competent in performing simple and complex coronary intervention using both femoral and radial (80-90%) access.

His Interventional Cardiology experience includes:

  • Coronary angiogram and Right heart catheter studies
  • Coronary Angioplasty: basic and complex including Left Main (LM); bifurcations (dedicated bifurcation stents); Chronic Total Occlusions (CTOs); vein graft angioplasties; primary angioplasties, rescue angioplasties
  • Coronary Rotablation
  • Coronary Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS) and
  • Coronary Fractional Flow Reserve measurement (FFR)
  • Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) and Optical Frequency Domain Imaging (OFDI)
  • Excimer laser coronary angioplasty (ELCA)-Using adjunctive devices such as fine cross catheter, corsair catheter, guideliners, CrossBoss and Stringray system (First to do an independent case in India)
  • Pacemaker implantation. (First leadless pacemaker implanted in west India).

His general cardiology experience includes:

  • Transthoracic echocardiogram
  • Trans-esophageal echocardiogram
  • IABP (Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump) insertion
  • Pericardiocentesis
  • Supervising and reporting Stress Tests, TTT (Tilt Table Test), Holter Tests and Cardioversions.

He is a proctor for IVUS, Rotablation, complex angioplasties and for laser angioplasty where he visits various centres in India to teach and perform complex high risk cases.

Dr. Shah has authored 16 research international publications and 22 conference publications. He has attended many seminars and conferences as a faculty or invited lecturer.
