Dr. Darshana D Rathod is an Additional Director in the Critical Care Medicine department of Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre.
Post completion of MBBS, Dr. Darshana pursued her residency in Internal Medicine at Grant Medical College & Sir J J Group of Hospital, Mumbai where she trained in Medicine as well as Intensive Care.
Dr. Darshana has extensive experience in medical emergencies, Medical Intensive Care and Surgical Intensive Care units. Her areas of specialization are invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation, Intra-aortic balloon therapy, Haemodynamic Monitoring and Neuro Critical care. She has expertise in operating & providing protocoled care in ICU. She is trained by the Life Supporters Institute of Health Sciences, Mumbai for Advanced and Basic Cardiac Life support, Advanced Cardiac Life support, and International Trauma Life support. She is trained in an Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation diploma course at La Pitie-Salpetriere. She is also experienced in organizing & conducting training of nurses & doctors especially in Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Infection Control Practices, Hemodynamic monitoring, etc.
Dr. Darshana has worked in Intensive Care at various reputed institutes like Asian Heart Institute, S L Raheja Hospital, and Bhaktivedanta Hospital. She has an additional interest in healthcare quality management. She has also undergone specialized training in Quality management like Lean Six Sigma -Green belt by Benchmark Six Sigma at Mumbai, Attended and passed DNV (DET NORKE VERITAS) Internal Auditor Training on Quality Management System as per ISO 9001:2008 standard. She has successfully completed certification for Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality by the Healthcare Quality Certificate Commission She was instrumental in achieving ISO (International Organization for Standardization),) and JCI (Joint Commission International) for Asian Heart Institute. She was appointed as Management Representative for the Quality department at the Asian Heart Institute from 2007 to 2014. In addition, she has been the accreditation survey Coordinator for the JCI (Joint Commission of International reaccreditations at the Asian Heart Institute. With her interest in quality, she continues to take care of the quality processes at Sir H N Reliance Foundation Hospital.
