Dr Neeraj Kamat is a Consultant Cardiothoracic & Heart/Lung transplant/VAD surgeon at Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre.

After completing MBBS and MS (General Surgery) on merit, Dr Kamat pursued his MCh (CTVS) from the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi. At AIIMS he developed his initial interest in Cardiothoracic transplants alongwith his training in Cardiac Surgery. After completing his MCh he worked at Fortis Hospitals Mulund Mumbai where he was part of 65 Heart transplants with Dr Anvay Mulay’s team.

Continuing with the passion in transplant he joined one of the UK’s best centers in Cardiothoracic Transplant and VAD program at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) at Wythenshawe hospital, Greater Manchester, UK under the guidance of Dr Rajamiyer Venkateswaran (MBBS, PhD, FRCS-CTh, Director) for a International Fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery & Heart/Lung transplants/VADs.  There he was officially SIGNED OFF for Cardiothoracic Retrievals independently on a national level which is assessed by NHS Blood & Transplant (NHS BT). Also he got extensive experience in Heart and Lung implants and VAD implantation. Apart from Transplant he also finetuned his skills in Cardiothoracic Surgery. He also got special training in Transmedics Organ Care System for beating Heart retrievals at Boston USA.

He has a robust exposure in routine adult Cardiothoracic Surgery which involves Off-pump and On-pump Coronary artery bypass surgery with special interest in Total arterial revascularisation. He is a safe Coronary Surgeon with excellent outcomes at par with international standards (Euroscore STS score). Other areas of interest being Minimally invasive Cardiac surgery for Mitral valve, aortic valve, ASD and MID-CAB as well as in Redo-surgery for coronaries and valve replacements. He also has experience in aortic surgeries and complex aneurysms of aorta which he learnt at AIIMS as well as in UK.

He has also gained hands on experience in UK in Thoracic surgeries including Video assisted Thoracic Surgery)VATS for malignant and non malignant diseases. (Lobectomies Decortication Resection, Pneumothorax Surgery)

He has submitted several papers in reputed indexed journals and presented papers at national and international levels.
