Neuro Surgery

Dr. Suneel Niranjan Shah is a Consultant with the Neurosurgery department at Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre.

Dr. Suneel Shah, completed his M.Ch. from Grant College after his MBBS and MS (General Surgery) from Tata Memorial Hospital in 1994. Areas of his expertise include Tumour surgery, Skull Base Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Endoscopic Neurosurgery, Minimally invasive spinal surgery and Neuro-trauma. He trained at the J. J. Hospital in the management of acute neurosurgical emergencies related to both head and spine towards his M.Ch. At the Bombay Hospital, he gained experience in all major adult and paediatric neurosurgical work and management of surgery for intracranial aneurysms, benign and malignant brain tumours, degenerative spinal problems, posterior fossa approaches, transphenoidal surgery, C.P. angle surgery, surgery for spinal dysraphism and head trauma. He was entrusted with the management of a neurosurgical ICU and gained experience in stereotactic radiosurgery at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Sheffield. His work at the, Hull Royal Infirmary, UK helped him further his knowledge in general neurosurgery with special emphasis on spinal trauma and instrumentation, neuroendoscopy and paediatric neurosurgery unit.

During a global career spanning two decades Dr. Shah has held various positions such as House surgeon Neurosurgery, Resident- Neurosurgery and Senior Resident and has been a part of renowned institutions such as the J.J Hospital, Bombay Hospital, Mumbai, the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Sheffield, U.K., Hull Royal Hospital, UK. He has been a consultant to Bombay Hospital since 2000.

Dr. Shah has been a Recognized Postgraduate Teacher, MUHS for the last ten years and is currently Associate Professor, Dept. of Neurosurgery, Bombay Hospital Institute of Medical Sciences. He is a member of Neurological Society of India and the Bombay Neurosciences Association.

He is a regular participation in neuroradiology and neuropathology meetings and was the course director Endoscopic Skull Base Surgery Workshop.
