Neuro Surgery

Dr. Rakesh Singh is an endovascular neuro-intervention consultant at the Department of Neuro Sciences at Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre.

After completion of M.S. (General Surgery), Dr. Rakesh Singh pursued his DNB from Grant Medical College and JJ Hospital and secured first rank in the University. As an advanced Neuro-intervention fellow at Essen, Germany, he gained experience in stroke care including thrombolysis and mechanical clot retrieval using stent and various other endovascular procedures.

Dr. Singh is trained in various types of elective and emergency neurological surgery including intravenous thrombolysis and intra-arterial thrombolysis for acute stroke, extra- and intra-cranial stenting for cerebro-vascular stenotic diseases, coiling of aneurysms with balloon and stent assistance, performing test occlusions for giant aneurysms, embolization of brain and spinal cord AVM, intracranial and spinal dural A V Fistula, Carotid-Cavernous Fistula, embolization of intra- and juxta-cranial and spinal tumours, vertebroplasty. He has deployed Flow diverter stents like Pipeline embolization device (PED) and Flow Redirection Endoluminal device (FRED) and Silk stents and performed more than 150 flow diversions surgeries for various aneurysms.

Dr. Singh has been instrumental in setting up stroke unit at some of the prestigious hospitals in Mumbai. He has co-authored 6 articles and has been a co-investigator in controlled drug trials for Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinson’s disease.
