Nephrology

Dr Arun R. Halankar is a Consultant Nephrologist with the Nephrology department at Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre.

After completing his MBBS and MD (General Medicine and Therapeutics), Dr Halankar pursued the Medical Residency Program at Seth G.S. Medical College and K.E.M. Hospital, Mumbai. He worked as a Registrar and then Senior Registrar at the Artificial Kidney and Nephrology Unit at the same institution. Thereafter, he did his Senior Fellowship in Nephrology from the Jewish Hospital and Medical Centre of Brooklyn, Downstate University, Brooklyn, New York, USA.

Dr Halankar has been in practice for more than 43 years now and has been associated with numerous hospitals in Mumbai. Currently, he is a Consultant Nephrologist with Jaslok Hospital and Research Centre and Shushrusha Hospital, Mumbai. Earlier, he was the Honorary Nephrologist in charge at the Nephrology department of Sir H. N. Hospital.

In the past, Dr Halankar has served in the capacity of Hon. Asst. Professor and Hon. Asst. Physician (Renal Medicine) at L.T.M. Medical College and L.T.M. General Hospital, Sion, Mumbai. He was also the Hon. Professor and Head, Nephrology Dept. at Topiwala National Medical College and B.Y.L. Nair Ch. Hospital, Mumbai and thereafter Hon. Professor, Nephrology at Seth G.S. Medical College and K.E.M. Hospital, Parel, Mumbai.

Dr Halankar is a Post-graduate teacher in Nephrology recognised by University of Mumbai since 1992.

He is a Life Member of several organisations including: Indian Society of Nephrology, Association of Physician of India, Indian Society of Organ Transplantation and Indian Society of Clinical Pharmacology. He is also member of the National Kidney Foundation. Dr Halankar has numerous publications and orations to his credit.
