Dr. Akash Shukla is the Director and Consultant in Department, Hepatology at Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre.
Over 86 original published research papers and is known for teaching and training Gastroenterologists/Hepatologists for last 15 years. His papers have won the Plenary award at APASL (Asia-Pacific Association for Study of Liver) 2018, best research paper award at VALDIG meeting at Switzerland 2016 and National awards 4 times. He has written textbooks on “Jaundice” and “Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease”.
He is a world renowned expert and done pioneering work in the field of vascular liver diseases. He is the first non-European to be nominated to the steering committee of the Vascular liver diseases interest Group, EASL, Europe and has written the Asia-Pacific guidelines for management of Budd-Chiari syndrome. He is also the secretary of the INASL national task force for vascular liver diseases (Budd-Chiari syndrome, Portal vein thrombosis, NCPF, EHPVO etc). He has also been part of authoring several international and national disease management guidelines for various liver diseases like acute liver failure, acute on chronic liver failure, nutrition in cirrhosis, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, NAFLD etc.
He is known for his excellent work in various aspects of liver diseases especially ascites, NASH, alcoholic liver disease, hepatitis B & C and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). He is TRG member for National viral hepatitis control program, GoI and steering committee member for the GoM. He is very respected among his peers and has been a governing council member of INASL.
He has worked extensively in the field of transplant and currently holds honorary posts of Jt Director (in-charge) ROTTO-SOTTO West and Maharashtra & Jt Secretary, ZTCC Mumbai. He is also state advisory committee member for GoM on organ donation and transplant. He has 142 Research Publications in International and National Journals.
