Dr. Purushottam Kand is Consultant, PET-CT & Nuclear Medicine at Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre.
After MBBS, he completed post graduate Diploma in Radiation Medicine (DRM) and post graduate Degree, Diplomate of National Board (DNB) from the Radiation Medicine Centre (Bhabha Atomic Research Centre) affiliated to the University of Mumbai. He qualified the Radiation Safety Officer Examination and also proved his excellence and knowledge in Nuclear Cardiology by qualifying for the Diplomate, Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology by Examination in Dec 2010, conducted by the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology (USA). He has been incorporated as Fellow, European Board of Nuclear Medicine in April 2011.
Dr. Kand has also received training at the Department of Nuclear Medicine, Singapore National University. He completed the IAEA / RCA regional training course on ‘Nuclear Oncology Applications including PET-CT’ in Seoul, Republic of Korea as well as ‘The European Association of Nuclear Medicine most advanced Basic Learning Course on PET/CT in Oncology’ at the EANM Educational Facility Vienna, Austria. He has also completed the ‘The European Association of Nuclear Medicine Learning Course on Neuro-Imaging’ at the EANM Educational Facility Vienna, Austria.
Prior to joining us, Dr. Kand has worked as a Consultant, PET-CT and Nuclear Medicine at the P.D. Hinduja National Hospital & Medical Research Centre for 1.5 years and as Associate Professor & Consultant for 8 years at the Radiation Medicine Centre (BARC), Tata Memorial Hospital.
He is a recognized post graduate teacher by Medical Council of India and the National Board of Examinations, New Delhi. He has trained several medical graduates enrolled for the post graduate courses at the P.D. Hinduja National Hospital & Medical Research Centre and the Radiation Medicine Centre.
Dr. Kand has successfully managed one of the Thyroid Clinics at the RMC – the largest Thyroid Clinic facility in the country. He was nominated by the Government of India to serve as an expert at the Consultants Meeting on ‘Hybrid Imaging (PET-CT) and Radioguided Surgery’, organized by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) at the IAEA Headquarters – Vienna, Austria.
He is a member of several reputed organisations such as Society of Nuclear Medicine & Molecular Imaging (USA), American Society of Nuclear Cardiology, European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM) and European Society of Radiology (ESR), to name a few.
Dr. Kand is the recipient of WFNMB & Canadian Association of Nuclear Medicine award for oral paper presentations at 10th World Congress in Nuclear Medicine & Biology, at Cape Town, South Africa and ARCCNM award for oral paper presentations at the 9th World Congress in Nuclear Medicine & Biology, at Seoul, Korea.
He has numerous research papers and publications to his credit and has made presentations at various national and international conferences.
